WSCUHSD Charter Middle School

August 2, 2016

The WSCUHSD board finalized the process of establishing the district’s new charter school at its June 15 meeting. West County Charter Middle School will serve as WSCUHSD’s first middle school, serving 7th and 8th grade students beginning in the fall of 2017. West County Charter Middle School students will benefit from the Design Thinking process, promoted by Stanford University. Design Thinking is a hands-on inquiry-based learning model that promotes a solution-based approach to problem solving directly linked to the community. The school will be located in Forestville, in beautiful West Sonoma County, which will offer its students the opportunity to connect with the rich ecosystem of the Russian River and the nearby majestic Redwood forests of the region.
