Superintendent’s Welcome 2017-2018

August 17, 2017

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year in West County!
This is an exciting time as we welcome our students, teachers and staff back to Analy, El Molino, Laguna and for the first time the West County Charter Middle School! After 108 years educating high school students we are thrilled to welcome our first group of 7th and 8th graders.

This year we are proud to announce the launch of our first-in-the-county Work Based Learning Partnership with the Santa Rosa Junior College. This course will allow Analy and El Molino students to earn both high school and college credit as they learn as interns in one of our “West County Speciality” areas of Wine Business, Travel & Tourism, Green Business or Non-profit/Public Service. It is critical for our students to learn both on and off campus as they prepare for the next step in their journey!

This year we will begin construction on the final project from the 2010 Measure I Bond passed by the voters of West County: the El Molino Performing Arts Center. Construction documents are waiting on approval from the state with groundbreaking planned for the spring. Over the past six years the district has used Measure I funding to complete energy saving solar installations, new fields and stadiums at Analy and El Molino as well as the band room at Analy.

Finally, please join us on social media! Our schools are active on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram sharing the great learning opportunities that take place across the district every day. Use the hashtag #westcountypride to keep track of all the accomplishments of our students!

Sincerely,
Steven Kellner, Ed.D.
