RAUL GUERRERO SELECTED AS THE NEW ANALY PRINCIPAL

Raul PhotoOn Thursday, June 2, 2016, the West Sonoma County Union High School District Board of Education approved the employment of Raul Guerrero as the new Analy High School Principal. Guerrero will be replacing Chris Heller who served 8 years at Analy. Guerrero will start his new position at Analy on July 1, 2016.

Guerrero attended San Diego State University where he received his BA in Social Sciences, a Single Subject Teaching Credential, Bilingual Cross-cultural Emphasis: Spanish, Authorized Field: Social Science and Supplementary Authorization: Biology. Guerrero received his

Master’s in Educational Administration and Preliminary Administrative Service Credential from National University and his Professional Administrative Service Credential from Sonoma State University.

Guerrero has been at Analy the last 8 years as one of the Vice-Principals. Before being selected as an Analy Vice-Principal, Guerrero worked for the Santa Rosa City Schools as an Assistant/Vice Principal at Montgomery and Elsie Allen High Schools, a Principal at Hilliard Comstock Middle School, and Summer School Principal at Santa Rosa High School. Before working for the Santa Rosa City Schools, Guerrero taught Social Science at Analy for 1 year in the 1995-1996 school year. Guerrero started his educational career at Mar Vista High School where he taught Social Science, served as a Resource Advisor, Master Teacher and Attendance Assistant.

Guerrero comes with a vast depth of experience; 6 years of teaching at the high school level, 2 years as a Master Teacher, 20 years as a strong administrator, extensive training and experience in staff development and gang/drug interventions, excellent communication skills including public speaking, writing proposals, reports and presentations. Guerrero is bilingual in Spanish and English. He has served on severalcommunities at the site and district level as well as within Sonoma County. Guerrero was responsible for starting the Culture Club at Analy High School where he hosts a weekly meeting for staff during lunch to provide an avenue for informal conversations on issues of school culture and equity. During his tenure with Mar Vista, Guerrero was the founder of “Will Work for Success”, a student group dedicated to exposing students to opportunities and inculcating the belief that change begins with each one of us. Guerrero is also being trained to be a Leadership Coach and Equity Trainer. In 2011, Guerrero was named Sonoma County Association of School Administrators Administrator of the Year.

Guerrero is married to Kristin Guerrero and they have 2 sons Andres and Fabian. When Guerrero is not in his office, walking the campus, or attending activities at Analy, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, mountain biking and surfing.
